In an effort to enhance innovation and utilization of quantum technologies among its members, NATO has created a quantum technology strategy. The strategy aims to foster a secure, resilient, and competitive quantum ecosystem amongst NATO allies. NATO is particularly interested in the defense applications of quantum technology, such as sensing, imaging, and secure communication. However, they also recognize the potential for dual-use applications in areas such as climate change, human health, and economics. NATO is creating a Transatlantic Quantum Community to keep track of developments in the field and is also supporting EDT startups through its Defense Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) program. Additionally, NATO has established the NATO Innovation Fund, which will invest €1 billion in advanced science and technology firms, including those working in the quantum sector.
