82% of professionals in India are concerned about the possibility of job redundancy due to advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), according to a report by edtech startup Hero Vired. The report, titled ‘Future of the Skills Landscape 2024,’ surveyed 200,000 students, professionals, and academics and found that 78% believe upskilling is necessary to remain relevant in the job market. In addition, 39% of respondents said that AI capabilities significantly impact their promotion opportunities within their current roles. However, 43% expressed dissatisfaction with the limited AI training offerings from employers. Workers also recognized the importance of soft skills in addition to AI skills, with 83% saying that acquiring AI skills specifically would improve their job prospects. The report also identified digital marketing, green jobs, and mental health coaching as non-technology sector jobs that would be in high demand. Overall, the report highlights the need for continuous reskilling and the recognition of AI skills as crucial for career growth in India’s evolving job market.
