A Connecticut man has been sentenced to three years of probation after defrauding a computer technology company and stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of products. Myron Ware, 49, was found guilty of mail fraud in March 2023, and was sentenced this week by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in New Haven. Ware’s scheme involved identifying companies or organizations that had purchased computer parts and components from a Texas-based computer technology company. He would then contact the victim company and falsely represent himself as a customer, reporting that a previously delivered part or component was not functional and requesting a replacement. The victim company would then ship the replacement item to an address provided by Ware, and he would travel to that address to receive the delivery. Ware then sold most of the parts and components that he received, but kept some for his own use. In total, he has been ordered to pay back $77,068.40 in restitution.
