Key Technology, a brand under Duravant’s Food Sorting and Handling group, introduced a new RemoteMD® 2.0 support service on Dec. 14 for its optical sorting systems. The service aims to enhance equipment performance, ensure food safety and product quality, increase equipment uptime and reduce service costs.
RemoteMD® 2.0 is a remote support service that allows Key Technology service technicians to connect to a sorter, enabling real-time monitoring and technical support. It also offers 24/7 call center support and regular equipment status reports.
Jack Lee, group president of Duravant’s Food Sorting and Handling Solution division, highlighted that the worldwide labor shortage has made it difficult for food processors to hire and retain technology experts. The RemoteMD service alleviates some of these challenges by taking over machine maintenance tasks, thereby enhancing the return on investment for the customer by reducing repair time and costs and the chance of product recalls.
RemoteMD provides critical information on the sorting equipment’s health and operating condition allowing them to identify possible improvements to optimize the equipment’s performance and uptime. The service can also facilitate the delivery and installation of software updates and patches.
RemoteMD reduces the need for on-site service technicians as many equipment issues can be diagnosed and repaired remotely. If an on-site technician is required, RemoteMD facilitates the identification of necessary parts prior to the technician’s visit. The remote service is available as a stand-alone service or as part of service packages.
Key Technology’s RemoteMD is currently compatible with its VERYX®, COMPASS®, OCULUS, Manta®, Optyx® and Tegra® optical sorters, as well as its ADR® and ADR EXOS® automatic removal systems. The support service can be retrofitted into existing equipment or installed on new equipment.
