Outrider Technologies Inc. has released its latest AI-driven perception technology, designed to accelerate yard automation in logistics hubs. The system has been trained using Fortune 500 customer distribution yard data and can understand, anticipate, and interact with fixed and moving objects in the yard. Outrider claims that its product can perform fully autonomous, zero-emission trailer moves. The company raised $73 million in a Series C funding round in 2023 and expanded its engineering workforce. The updated perception system includes deep learning and safety features, and can identify the direction and velocity of obstacles. The perception update also allows for all-weather operations and is 40% faster for automated disconnection and connection of trailer airlines. Outrider plans to expand internationally and serve port operations in addition to distribution yards. The company has also developed an AI-driven trailer inventory capability which allows the identification and tracking of trailers using vision cameras to read serial numbers or license plates.
